DCR - I got to seeing one for real today, just looked from outside though. The front opening seems a lot bigger now - the condenser looks way more exposed to rocks. Its weird, but up close, it looks a lot like a "bulldog" up front. The rear is perfectly fine to me. This was a loaded EX-L/nav.
Also noticed the tires were Bridgestone Dueler Sport AS? Seemed different than the old Continental 4x4s.
Since I only looked from outside, I can't tell how it is in detail, but plastic dash surfaces look sufficiently not cheap. But I'm not feeling the door handles (the 3rd gen got had a beefy handle) and the plastic door release (c'mon why did Honda not just keep it a metal chrome bit here?). Also the plastic trim on the front portion of the door handle looks pretty cheap. Again I can't tell too much until I get a chance to look inside one at a dealer sometime.
I'm not crazy about the middle console - this one was left opened, but the old flip down tray in lesser 3rd gen trims seems a lot more flexible, you can actually move people around inside the vehicle. Plus that upper glove compartment box is now missing.
Backup camera is a really nice thing to have though, and they made that standard across the range.

I do lament the deletion of the upper glove box--it was such a useful space to stash electronics like a digital camera or GPS. But as a previous poster mentioned, it very convenient now to just stuff the whole gps plugged in into the center console and close it up. I don't think I ever folded down the center table thing in the 13 years I've owned CR-Vs (combined between the three I've owned in the past 8 years).

Upper glove box is plenty useful for paperwork, receipts and such... way too messy to toss those into the large center bin. Get a Proclip for your smartphone if you don't have built-in nav... GPS is way too archaic a device for these modern times. Try Waze on an iPhone/Android, awesome for daily commutes (although they have been some routing issues here after some upgrades).
Nice part with the fold tray is that you can not only fold it down, but stuff things under it. Like gym shoes. And a long big umbrella (no way that's fitting in the storage bin). Not gonna dump those shoes into a center bin either.
Little things, but Honda definitely did a ton of nice little things before. This one has the backup camera, but takes away from other practical things. Not everyone uses 40/20/40 folding seats either but those that do, like it.
But I do like new stuffs like the steering wheel controls that DCR doesn't like on the 4th gen. The upside of the new interior (or downside for some) is that its less truck-like.

Funny thing, I have yet to use the levers to fold down the seats. But I think my rear passengers would appreciate more seating position options.
I don't get why Honda invested so much in designing this mechanism. It's more of a wow feature than anything. I mean, if I'm packing my car for a long trip, I'm not going to be in a rush, so for the two extra motions to fold it down manually is not a problem. It's not like it weighs 50lbs like the minivan 3rd rows. Personally, I would prefer to get the farther reclining rear seats, rears seats the slide fore and aft, and the 40/20/40 folding seats instead.
Though I would say one thing that I do appreciate from the new rear seat design is that the cargo cover no longer needs to be attached to the rear headrests. Those were always a pain to put back in place after folding down the seats.
Yea, it was nice to have that space to dump wet/dirty things, but now I just stick it in the back seat feet area.
While we're on gripes, if you're reading this Honda:
I know there's the back up camera, but when looking through the rearview mirror, it seems like the rear window could drop down a little more. I see like 2 inches of rear door (between the glass and the top of the rear seat back), and I kinda wish I just had that extra vision, since the backup camera down work in drive. Upon further inspection, those two inches are covered in black anyway on the outside. How hard would it have been to carve out another inch or so of rear visibility?
Second thing:
You know all the bins and pockets on the door sides and on the sides of the center console? How much would it cost to pad the insides of those would soft material. I stick hard things like screw drivers, flashlights, and pens in those pockets and they always roll around as I'm driving causing annoying sounds. If these pockets were padded, then there wouldn't be that issue. For me, I'm probably just going to go to the store and get some fabric to stick in there, but it would have been a nice touch, Honda.
Lastly, the ECO button seems great, but I'm a numbers guy. I like to see specifically how much I benefited from driving like a grandma. What if you included an onboard calculator that calculates how much gas you saved by using ECO mode on the previous trip compared to without it. Not sure if it's even possible, but just a thought. I would feel better if I knew that I saved 10 gallons of gas a week from using ECO. Now there's just not much tangible reward to using it, since I'm not seeing a huge difference between using and not using ECO.
Overall, very pleased with the vehicle so far!

Because Japanese stay on the road and Americans want to go off road, or at least look like it. Maybe they want it to look "Ford tough".
How many here have said so many times that the American designs really messed up Honda. It is like Honda/Acura hired workers from D3 and try hard to copy their design language. The Japanese designs did very well before they got "Americanized"

Didn't realize the Japan version is SO different... and vastly SUPERIOR to what we get in the US too. That front end looks a whole heck of a lot better, the US front end seems to suggest you could go rock crawling with the CR-V (BAAAAD IDEA if anyone actually tries it).
Plus of course, projectors/HIDs and side mirror blinkers. We get the low rent version obviously.

I have almost 5000 miles on my new CR-V so far. EX-L with AWD. I am averaging 27.8 MPG so far (combination of ECO and non-ECO modes). I was at 28.7 MPG on my Accord, doing the same driving. So, mileage wise I am fine with this vehicle. Just had my first opportunity to test out the AWD in snow. It was seamless in transition and worked well. This is my first small crossover/SUV. Very happy with it so far.
