Appreciate providing the high quality pictures.
One thing I've noticed is that most of the pictures are taken with a wide angle lens (20mm or less?) such that depth perception is difficult.
I'd prefer a more natural (to the human eye) 50mm equiv lens to show a more realistic look.

Only lenses that I even bring to the auto show are my 12-24(DX) or 17-35(FX).
Just not possible to get some of those interior shots with something like a 50mm.
Heck when I go, if I don't use the ultra-wide for even exterior shots I'll likely have 3 people walk between me and the car when I'm trying to shoot.

Good points.
At least 35mm would get rid of the bloated look.
Dashboard shots are fine with WA lens as features are mostly at the same distance.
It's the shots where there is lots variation in spacial distance (front view, rear view, interior side view) that becomes bloated and "distanced".

during the media day (especially in Chicago) there's no need for a wide angle lens. I typically carry a 16-35 in my bag just in case but almost never end up using it (honestly I'm not crazy about that lens for car photography). My "go to" lens for car shows is my 24-70 and I typically shoot in the 50-70mm range unless I am physically unable to get the shot from an appropriate distance. For interior shots the 24mm end is usually sufficient.

Thanks all.
Still many thanks to Chad Lacher for the photos.
My comments here is just an observation I have as I've noticed how often autojournalist shoot using wide angle lenses.
Btw, the RDX looks great, it's growing on me already vs. at 1st when I saw the photos.

Yes, I shot everything with a 16-35mm lens. Many exterior shots are at 35mm.
I'm not thrilled with the new RDX. It's boring me in every way. We currently own an '08 RDX Tech. The rear of the gen 2 has many queues from the original, but what's up with no exhaust cut outs? On a positive the new dash cubby pocket is a welcome interior feature the old one needed in daily use. I'll miss the turbo, I'm a rare fan of this engine.
