Honda-Mugen has announced it will be entering the GT300 class in the Japanese SuperGT race series with a CR-Z based racing car. Early images looks promising and it will field the first hybrid drivetrain in the series, paving the way for other manufacturers to follow suit.

I've never watched this racing series before but am now curious to watch.
This will be racing against the likes of "458s, Vantages, Gallardos, Z4s, and 911s to name but a few, it’s going to have to be fast. It will also have Subaru’s wild 300bhp BRZ GT300 racer to beat."
It would be very impressive for this to do well and keep up with the other cars let alone win.
How do I watch this in the US? Streaming?

It will be interesting to see the CR-Z have it out with the Prius this year. I'd like to know more about the drivetrain. In any event I think the CR-Z looks great especially with the red H.

The SuperGT website is going through a redesign, and they do not seem to have an English page as yet :( Would appreciate any of our Japanese reading members to give us a run-down on what this page is saying??

Mr. Ito, himself anounced(revealed) that Honda will participate in GT300 series with the Hybrid CRZ race car. (there were many key people who spoke in regard to their activities/respossibilities. so he, himself spoke about it was significant, i guess.)
Honda will partner with M-Tech(Mugen). Honda will develop the powertrain of the "Racing Hybrid System". The machine(race car) is being built now, and will plant to participate in the 4th race at SUGO Sportsland (on 7/27, 28). The driver will be a former Indycar driver, Mr. Muto. The second driver has not been selected, yet.
Next-generation-Supersports Honda "concept NSX" was introduced in a picture. Mr. Ito also said "(It) will be debut within 3 years in the US. After that, when (it) is introduced in Japan, we will plan to replace HSV-010 GT in GT500 series.
During Q&A, he said that they would like to go forward into new(age) motor sports with new technologies. They will participate with the new CRZ in GT300 and new race cars based on Supersports car (new NSX) in Super GT(GT500). Of course, the regulations that 3 years from now have not been set, yet. So they don't know what will happen neverthless they will hope to do with the new challenges. Somthing like that. I really hope somebody else will do these thing now.
You can see their motor sports lineups here.

One more thing on HSV-010.
They had been working on the side(split) radiatior(s) and engine but then the 3/11 eartquike and tsunami hit. So the whole development stopped last year. So this year, there is nothing new but to continue the last year's developments.

Thank you CR-V9, I really appreciate your efforts :)
The most interesting thing for me is that they stopped development of the HSV-010 because of the natural disasters they suffered. I hadn't thought of that! Helps explain why the HSV's were so relatively lack luster in 2011.
I truly hope that Ito is considering the NSX v2 for GT1 racing as well as SuperGT, because SuperGT, much as we love it, has no real exposure outside of Japan and their efforts there would be generally wasted. Do I hear a train wreck coming??? :(
