The CSX no longer exists on the Acura Canada webpage. You can't access any info on the car, even as an '11 model anymore. I wonder when the TSX disappears...?

Which is good. Acura badly needs to distance itself from Honda. The TSX will stay for a while even after the ILX debuts - that is what I read/heard from NAIAS.

From an image point of view, the CSX is an absolute fail. In terms of bang for the buck, the CSX is a decent product.
I haven't driven mine that far, roughly 60,000 Km, but it has been nearly flawless. Once the tire pressure sensor light acted up and the engine light came on once but corrected itself soon after. That is the extent of issues with this car so far.
If the CSX were marketed as a version of the Civic as in the Civic CSX, there wouldn't be a problem and considering all the content upgrades, pricing, especially in the final couple of years of the product run, was entirely reasonable. The problem came in putting an Acura badge on the machine.
If the ILX is not substantially a better performer than the CSX and there is no reason to anticipate it will be a significantly better performer, the fact remains that from a marketing perspective the ILX will be a much easier sell. You don't just want a product that has tangible upgrades on the cheaper model that it shares a platform with (better engine, better manual transmission - by far the best I've ever owned - climate control, VSA, an additional year of warranty, etc.). You want to spend more for an Acura so that everybody else gets the message that you're doing better than your neighbour who had to settle for a Honda.
As capable as the CSX is, it's still a Civic inside and out. The ILX does not look anything like a Civic inside or out which is a good thing considering the reception the Civic re-design has gotten. That said, let's be realistic here. It's not going to be a major upgrade on the Civic in terms of raw performance. Then again, I expect pricing to be such that to expect a substantially more impressive car at it's core is simply just irrational.
The best part about the ILX being so different in appearance to the Civic is that Honda will be able to spin off assorted variations of the sedan without fear of overlapping too much with the Civic range. A sports wagon, perhaps, certainly a coupe, maybe even a sports hatch (Integra re-born). If the ILX is a hit, I could see Honda taking this in assorted directions.
Myself, I'm just going to hang onto my trouble-free CSX for a while yet, hoping that Honda further refines its hybrid technology. My drive to work is just under 20 km round trip so a plug-in hybrid might just be ideal. If I have to wait four, five, even six years for such technology to find its way into an ILX, I am hopeful that the CSX will provide relatively troublefree service for that period of time. If I'm in around 120,000 km when the time comes to trade the CSX in, it might even still be worth a few dollars.

hmm depends on where you live though.
I live in Markham and there are plenty of CSX roaming around and people actually know that its more powerful and nicer inside than a civic. IMO the grille and the rims really work on it too. The fact that it was basically the JDM civic also meant that the csx type S was also not that bad as people took it and transformed it into the civic type R FD2.

I seriously looked at the CSX. I absolutely loved the car, but my wife asked why we would pay a price premium for a car that looked exactly like a Civic. I couldn't win that argument, so we bought the Civic instead. Having a completely different car will be a huge factor for Acura sales.
If they go back to the EL formula of not pricing it too far above the Civic but offering a completely different car, it'll do very well. I can't see it being much more than $26 K (I'm hoping more like $24) , or they'll be getting into Accord EX territory.
Why do they have to have a 5AT though? At least have a 6AT to improve mileage and keep the ratios closer. Not having a manual transmission option is killing me. Why does Acura insist on doing things 2/3 right?

The CSX was made in Canada (Allison, I believe) , but the ILX is made in the States. What happens to that plant? Will they strictly be making Civics now?

Plant 1 in Alliston will be making the Civic sedan and the Civic Coupe while plant 2 makes the CRV, ZDX, MDX (for now as it is moving to Alabama soon) and the Civic sedan.
