the Euro Accord Type S setup is very nice and sporty without sacrificing any comfort, IMO. Great seats and a great steering wheel to go with it as well. I'd LOVE to get a (more potent and lighter) TSX in that chassis trim.

Jeff - that would be a nice set up.

Personally, would you prefer a TSX Sportwagon or a TSX Special Edition with 6MT?

If my vortex blue wagon was built 1-31-2012, how long before I see it in Ohio? It has yet to make landfall in Oregon. Hybrid is sold and I a eager to take delivery!

If it existed, I would get a TSX Sportwagon with the 6MT and the Type S suspension, seats, and steering wheel :)

I really like the TSX Sportwagon, but the lack of a 6MT bugs me a lot.

I'm driving a TSX SE 6MT this week - I really like the pseudo suede seats, but I would want a navi and it needs 18" wheels. If I were Acura, I would have saved the body kit money and put it into the 18" wheels and the Type S suspension.

Jeff - I sold my Hybrid Accord to a private party yesterday and got a good price.

Sell when you have a willing buyer. It will be at least 3 weeks before the TSX Wagon comes in so I am going to use the time to test other options even though I think I will end up with the wagon.

These options include a Milano Red TSX SE with 6MT, a TL with Tech or Advance (don't quite want to stretch to the expense of SH-AWD 6MT). A Civic Si Sedan if I can find one.

I tried the 2012 CRV and liked it but it was noisy and a little too much like an Odyssey Jr. (Great car but we also have an Odyssey).

Anything else I should be looking at for a family car that is fun?

But ultimately, for those attracted to its understated, Euro-flavored proportions and style, the TSX wagon does reward the driver with razor-sharp firm steering and handling responses, and a generally lively and sporting driving experience. Less-diplomatic passengers described the ride as harsh or choppy but those with an enthusiastic bent will probably feel it's just right. Add to all this the car's ability to swiftly change gears with its steering wheel mounted paddles and without a doubt Acura has a unique product on hand, one flush with an athletic soul, yet happy to run as a shuttle day in and out.

I'd ask you to quit posting all the positive press coverage of the TSX Sportwagon until it receives a manual tranny.

It pisses me off every time I read another one.

I had a TSX wagon loaner car last week, and I really liked it. If I didn't need the room, I would have bought one instead of an Odyssey. Hopefully Acura will still sell a tourer when it's time to replace my 7g Accord...

I've got the big hauling needs handled with a 2006 Odyssey Touring which has been a great car for many miles. On the highway feels like cruising in a 747.

TSX Wagon will be our around town errand and short haul car! Replacing a 2005 Accord.

Edmunds Long-Term Test
After 20,000 miles with the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon we found ourselves still searching to find its personality. On some levels the TSX was competitive, whereas on others it was merely average. It was a solid choice, but struggled to develop enough character to distinguish itself.

The 2.4-liter engine was merely adequate, as was the five-speed transmission. Its handling was respectable, yet the steering lacked the feel and feedback of a car with sporting intentions. Early on we decided the Sport connotation did not belong on this wagon. We feel the same way now. Still, it made up for performance limitations with simple comfort items.

An excellent stereo and quiet, compliant ride made it a nice place to be on long trips, even if the driver seat did not conform to all tastes. Fuel economy showed moments of brilliance. Build quality was very good. And resale value measured up to the rest of the pack. A little more sport would be nice, but apart from that this TSX wagon is exactly what we expected it would be — an excellent SUV alternative for those who don't care to ride high and guzzle gas.

Beating the EPA estimate
Over a 600-mile road trip, I found the TSX Sport Wagon eminently practical, very simple to drive to the point of boring, and filled with good, but not cutting-edge, technologies. One area where the TSX Sport Wagon excelled was in fuel economy. Acura's EPA tests rate it at 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, but after miles and miles of freeway driving, at speeds around 70 mph, the car came through with 31.2 mpg, well over the highway estimate.

Why doesn't Honda just drop the ZDX and Crosstour and replace them with wagons? They would probably claim there's no market for wagons in the US, but I personally see a huge one. They just need to market the practicality better.

HEY!!! That's my car.. ;-D

And he didn't even make a comment about the ELS stereo... jeez.. In this car, that's one of its great features. ELS is seriously good, incredibly much better than all that BOSE kaka that the competition puts out. You don't need lots of features, just a few good ones and all those buttons are actually quite logical to use.

Feature wise, what it may lack is unimportant to me. It has a super audio system and traffic info in its navi (along with an option for auto rerouting which saved our hides on the I5 up in OR and WA).

The voice interface? I just don't use it, so to me it's nothing important.

Bluetooth works well for us, we do have newer phones that he...

Navi? I like simple displays. The one here adds a number of additional indicators, but I must say I prefer the touch screen for a few things.. such as changing the orientation of the map... In the Civic/CRV you touch the compass, here you have to navigate. The one irritation still is the very poor feature set for creating waypoints in a navigation route. We use our smart phones to figure out side routes while we keep the car's navi set to the main trip.

Drive wise.. well the car is not "powerful" in the sense that a TL or an SI will take off. But not having the V6 in the wagon makes it a better driving car overall. Yes, you won't pound the Interstate at 100mph, but you'll find that 80 mph on cruise control is very doable for hundreds of miles and hours upon hours. As he said, its' tuned so off the line it moves well. The acceleration from 70 to 90 is another thing, but if you're passing someone doing 70... then you should not be passing, huh?

When it gets to the corners the car does quite well for itself. It doesn't understeer nor wallow nor lean over, instead it takes the turns smartly and you steering is quite good at feedback.

Of course, it's not a sport car, it's a sport wagon, which pretty much defines it. It's handling compromises are made towards making the driver aware of what the car is doing and providing a big enough handling envelop that the car feels safe and fun but no harsh that it makes the passengers sick.

If you want a sport car... well we do have the Civic Si.

Anyhow, another thing he did not mention, is the cruising range of this car, which in my latest trip proved to be the high side past 500 miles per tank. For a gas car this is quite notable, I'd think. The V6 would likely zilch that. This range makes it an exceptionally suitable car for long drives. The car will last longer than your bladder, and if not, then you're dehydrating yourself.

Mileage: 30mpg on the open road is easy. At 80 I was getting 28, at 75 I was getting 31, so those are really good numbers.

As far as carrying stuff from Ikea inside.. well, we got the cross bars on the roof rails. So, I figure I'd carry the box on top. To go significantly bigger, you'd have to get a truck or an Odyssey.

Or, IMHO, have them deliver it. It's so much easier. Plus they will carry stuff upstairs too.

For a family of four on a long trip the backseat is too tight, in that case I have to recommend the Odyssey. But for two grown ups this is the best touring car I've ever owned.

The ONLY thing that it's missing -just in my mind- is AWD.

PS- Around town you can fit three moderate sized grown ups in the backseat.

I think that several of us have TSX wagons now.

With AT.

Time to create The Temple of TSX Wagons... ;-)

Yes, the Tech package is worth every penny, and Honda has yet to penalize the user interface.. you can still use all the feature while driving, something you can't do in the Si.

Voice activation is nuts. It takes me longer to use voice that to reach over and tap-tap...

ZDX: Because AHM already has the MDX and RDX.

The Crosstour is already a wagon. We had one on loan for almost two months and loved it. What it needs is a bit of chopping out the body ends and perhaps lowering the body an inch or so, everything else about it is really spot on.
