why does my accord 93 engine make growling sound when accelerate speed up to 40km/hr ? it sounds like somebody has severe bronchitis.
Is the engine valve loose ?

Picard, after 19 years your Accord may indeed be developing some bronchitis.
Has it been smoking?
You might try giving it a shot of Spiriva, and call us in the morning!
Happy New Years!

Hmmm... Is there a fever, night sweats or weight loss? Need more history
Have you gone for your yearly screenings when it hit 15?
Sorry couldnt resist.
Does it continupusly make that noise after 40kph or just briefly as it passes that mark

there is no sweating, fever or weight loss.
Can the valve be damage?
the noise last from 40-60km. sometimes there is no noise. sometimes the noise occurred at 80km/hr when I tried to accelerate at freeway on ramp.

Exhaust leak, maybe? If the car is a manual shift are you driving with your hand resting on the gearshift?

I wasn't driving with my hand on the gearshift. The problem began when my dog fell forward on braking and he moved the gearshift to neutral. I press the gas pedal unknown that the gear shift to Neutral. The engine had developed a huge growl like it blown a gear shaft. From that time, my engine has this problem.

When I think of a growling noise I think of gear noise from the transmission due to the shift linkage being out of adjustment and applying pressure to the shift guides. Can you move the gear shift lever a little in circles and make the noise disappear? Maybe your dog bumped the shift lever hard enough to knock the shift linkage (rod on the Accord, right?) loose?

This sounds stupid, very stupid but did you check your muffler? You might have a small hole in it?

It could be a bad wheel bearing.

Maybe the problem is that the dog is still there under the pedal so it growls everytime he steps on the pedal.

I think they also had a problem with defective muffler bearings on the 1993 Accord's. They were known to cause a growl!

Yes, it could. The noise would change in pitch and volume slightly when steering the car back and forth, left and right at a constant speed. No relationship to a dog knocking the transmission out of gear though.
Reminds me of when my dad thought he had a bad wheel bearing on his Chevy due to a growling noise. Turned out to be a loose exhaust bracket clamp allowing the exhaust to rattle.

Sorry, you show the wrong bearing there. Honda upgraded all their muffler bearings and now uses self aligning BALL bearings. They improve exhaust flow and cause a more PURRING sound instead of GROWLING.
Here is the picture of the new upgraded muffler bearing.

The problem has been fixed. The noise was attributed to a rusted flex pipe connecting to the catalytic converter. The mechanic cut out the pipe and replace it with new pipe instead of replacing the catalytic converter. The catalytic converter is too expensive to replace.
