What % of all Honda cars sold in the US were hybrids?
2.5% (Civic, CR-Z, and insight combined. 31,000 total units)
For comparison Prius sales just missed 10% of total Toyota sales at 136,000 total units.
I still find it astonishing how Honda just absolutely gets whacked by the Prius.
Any new hybrid tech coming to close the gap?

Didn't you read the EarthDreams news?
For Honda midsize cars, a two-motor, three-mode hybrid system with plug-in capability using lithium batteries.
For Acura large cars, a three-motor AWD hybrid system with lithium batteries.

My impression is that people don't think of Honda hybrids as competitive. This won't help either, no matter how much stock you place in the stories about low mileage.

What's worse is no damn support on Hybrids. Dealers are swimming in Civic Hybrids because they have no APR, they have no special lease rate, they don't have jack squat. I have yet to talk to one dealer who can understand what they are thinking. We all have far too many and the days to turn is up in the ~75 day mark, I move Ridgelines in 52 days right now as a point of reference.

There are two possibilities for that:
1) Honda product planners / sales managers are stupid
2) Honda wants you to have the product available, but not to sell many of them.
As for the reasons behind option 2), it could be anything from:
- limited supply, due to some Li-pack first of a kind prod limitations.
- money losing model (with a brand new and expensive Li-ion battery in there), waiting for a more favorable exchange rate or improved cost-saving measures to open the flood gates.
- reliability concerns, waiting to get enough of them on the roads to real-world test their new battery packs, but not too many in case something goes wrong and they need not only to lose big money, but also engage into a recall that would tarnish their up-to-now-nearly-impecable hybrid reliability record.
Obviously, the real reason might be a combination of those 3, together with some additional

I'll believe the earthdreams when it is here and shown to be a competitor.
Just like I'll believe in a follow up NSX when it is actually available.
Nothing but dreams for a while now...

i really wonder why some nice people like potenzaa actually waste their time answering you...
So what's the point of asking if "something else is coming" if "you won't believe anything until you see it in the market"?
Well, personally I know the point, which is never asking honest questions, but simply to keep the bashing going because, apparently, that makes your ill-frustrated person feel better.
IMHO you would really make us all a favor if you kept dreaming but refrained from sharing your nightmares with us.

Just because Honda says it is coming doesn't mean it is actually coming. You should know that. Hell, we ALL know that.
So yea, I should have said, I'll believe any attempt to become a hybrid leader when I see it.
Thanks for the correction. Dream on!

I'm not one to pile on, but... yeah.
I think it's fair to be skeptical of Honda and to take an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude. Honda has to earn back some good will. But asking for something, then poo-poo'ing it... Yeah, that's trolling.
If you don't like the fish in the lake, keep your hook out of the water.
