Where did the S2000s come from? Have they really been sitting at a dealer that long?

Yes. How else would a new car sale come across? [rhetorical]

Performance Honda in Fairfield, OH, has a new Formula Red 2009 on their showroom floor. They refuse to discount it from the MSRP + a surcharge. Pretty smart, if you ask me. (And if I were two inches shorter, I would have owned a dozen. Magnificent automobile.)

I've seen this as well. We may see S2000 sales reported well in to 2012.

They must have a very lenient accounting department to not be dinging them for depreciation cost and showroom space...
There will never, ever be another automobile like the S2000. My 2003 GPW will not depreciate much at all from what it's worth right now.

The nice AP1 S2000s are stabilized indeed. I have had my 03 S2K for about 4 years now, and after selling off the hardtop I am only in it for ~$15k. I can easily sell it today with 60k miles, unmolested, bone stock for $12-13K.
So for barely 500 bucks a year in depreciation, I get the greatest car and the greatest NA engine ever sold as a Honda.
Some lucky bastard will buy the brand new S2K. No doubt about it... but they are stuck with the neutered 8k. LOL
As time goes on, the AP1 9,000 redline will only become more and more special.

Since I am married to the female equivalent of the anti-Christ when it comes to car enthusiasm, I have been unable to convince her to allow a 2 car rotation for me in the summer/winter months.
Before the great implosion, I found a fully factory kit S2000, with low miles for around $13,500. Now, good luck getting that sort of price.
