Autonews reported months ago that the RDX (mid '12), MDX (late '12) and TL ('13) would be available as a hybrid. But from this press release:
- No mention of RDX hybrid anymore (most report only MDX, TL and RL). So maybe it won't be available as hybrid anytime soon (at least not first year)
- Only plugin-hybrid for 2012 which probably will be the Accord
Or does Honda not count electric SH-AWD as hybrid and does the 2013 not apply to this and it would be available in '12?

E-SH-AWD will most likely debut in the next RL or NSX, should one come and then trickle down. The RDX will get the conventional SH-AWD system, with maybe one of the next generation ED engines or like some are speculating the turbo stays and adds ED implementation to make it more FI. Autonews if I recall had stated the RDX would get the hybrid in its MMC.

That info was probably speculative if it came out month(s) ago. The next RDX should arrive in March-April '12 (they've already stopped production on 2012s). The sub-TSX shortly after.

So could the RDX be the first one to receive the electric SH-AWD?
It seems Toyota hinted to Edmunds that it would be in the RL/TL/MDX but no mention of RDX. Seems MDX is more likely candidate to get this first but not clear if that would be '12 or '13.

Highly doubtful. We 'know' that the new sedan will be using the old IMA system and it should be the last to do so. However, from a marketing standpoint, it would make the most sense for the new system to debut on something 'higher' in the lineup.

personally I keep that autonews link on my bookmarks so that I cam go back to it to check its accuracy. At the time, appart from the obvious statements, I would not have given it much credibility.
We will see.
PS: that foes on tip of Colin's answers, with which I agree.
