Hi Wong Kn,
I just got a letter from Honda Malaysia entitled above. Very smooth calling it a product update. It is to replace a certain 'lighting switch coupler terminal'. I'm one of the first few lucky ones with the Jazz CBU 1.5 VTEC Japan unit (the ones that come with the cool oversize spoilers). If you still have yours can you detail a bit on what's it all about? I believe TOVA Aussies have the same 1st gen Jazz as well, are you affected too? Thanks.

I received the letter too (addressed to my wife). I need to get in touch with my service center and get them to explain to me more details. I think it should be a very minor item. But the move of calling it 'PUD' instead of 'recall' shows that HM has been learning the ropes of PR ! LOL.

Would this be for the light switch that could short circuit and catch fire if it got wet from rain coming in through the windows or something? I think the media made a bit of a thing of it (using the momentum from the string of Toyota recalls) despite only having two fires break out in South Africa or something...

Yes, possibly, but I thought that was for a different batch of units. It'll be quite some time before I send my car for scheduled maintenence so I hope WongKN can get us some additional intelligence before sending it in :)

I got this done, finally. The service adviser showed me a small metal connector piece that they had cut and replaced. It's hidden somewhere behind the dash. They wouldn't let me have it as they had to send it back to Honda Malaysia for records. If this was only thing that they replaced then I'm impressed. I didn't notice anything remarkable, which is a good thing - at least they put things back properly as it was before :)
